Detectives Investigating Thursday Night Stabbing in Rainier Beach Neighborhood

Detectives are trying to determine what led up to an apparent stabbing in the Rainier Beach neighborhood Thursday night.

An officer patrolling in the area of Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street at 9:30 Thursday night noticed a man and woman standing in front of a bus. The officer went to see if they needed any assistance and saw that the man was covered in blood from two apparent stab wounds. The officer immediately began first aid and called for Seattle Fire Department medics. Medics took the 32-year-old man to Harborview Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police followed a trail of blood across the street where they were able to speak with some potential witnesses who said the victim was involved in some type of fight disturbance just before he stumbled away. The witnesses were unable to provide a suspect description.

Detectives are working with businesses in the area to collect surveillance video that may have caught the incident.

This remains an active case and details may change as the investigation moves forward.
