Two Arrested After Police, Mom Track Teen’s Stolen Phone

Police arrested two men in the Rainier Valley on Monday after a 16-year-old boy was robbed for his phone in the 4600 block of South Chicago Street.

The boy’s mother called police around 7:15 pm, and told police she had tracked her son’s stolen phone to a house in the 4400 block of South Rose Street, just two blocks away from the scene of the robbery. Officers contained the house and spoke with witnesses, who said three people had gone inside the home after tossing something in a car parked nearby.

Police took the three occupants of the home into custody–two 18-year-old men and one 21-year-old man–and, with the home owner’s permission, searched the house and found the victim’s phone inside.

Detectives impounded a vehicle at the scene and are awaiting a search warrant to retrieve additional evidence. Police later booked the 21-year-old suspect and one of the 18-year-old men into the King County Jail and released the other pending further investigation.
