Detectives with the Gang Unit are investigating after a 28-year-old man was shot in the ankle Downtown Wednesday night.
Witnesses began calling 911 at 11:45 pm after they heard a single gunshot near 3rd and Pine Street. Officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound to the left ankle and immediately began first aid.
The victim told police that he was standing on the corner when he was approached by an unidentified woman. The woman asked him for a cigarette. The woman’s apparent boyfriend, according to the victim, took offense to the conversation, pulled out a handgun and shot the victim before fleeing the scene.
Seattle Fire Department Medics took the victim to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
