Traffic collision detectives are conducting the investigation following a fatal collision between an adult male and a Metro coach earlier this evening.
At approximately 5:40 pm, an adult male pedestrian attempted to flag down a southbound Metro coach near Elliott Avenue West and Roy Street, but witnesses said he stumbled and fell into the street in front of the coach. The driver attempted to avoid the collision, but the subsequent impact caused fatal injuries to the pedestrian.
Seattle Fire responded but the victim was declared deceased at the scene. Seattle Police arrived and evaluated the driver for any signs of impairment, which is standard protocol in any serious injury collision. The driver exhibited no signs of impairment.
Detectives responded and began their investigation. Investigators are working with Metro Transit, and this remains an active and on-going investigation.
