Officers Fatally Shoot Man Who Brandished Knives, Threatened Pedestrians in Lower Queen Anne

On Tuesday, at about 3:20 PM, officers responded to several 911 calls reporting that a man was brandishing knives at the intersection of West Harrison Street and Elliot Avenue West. Callers further stated that the subject was chasing and threatening people.

After a Taser deployment, two officers fired their service weapons, striking the man.

Officers provided first aid to the subject until Seattle Fire Department Medics arrived. Medics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

Detectives from the Force Investigation Team and Crime Scene Investigation responded to the incident.  Representatives from the Office of Police Accountability and the Office of the Inspector General were also present during the investigation, as were representatives from the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO). Per established protocol, the KCSO will conduct an independent review.
