5/22 Update in Lower Queen Anne Officer Involved Shooting Investigation 

Per Department policy, we are providing the names of the officers involved in the May 19, 2020 shooting in Lower Queen Anne. 

Officer Christopher Gregorio has been with the Department since July 2004.  He is currently assigned to the Canine Unit. Officer Gregorio has no prior officer involved shootings. 

Officer Matthew Milburn has been with the Department since June 2017.  He is currently assigned to Patrol Operations.  Officer Milburn has no prior officer involved shootings. 

Consistent with department policy, SPD will provide additional updates as information becomes available.  


On Tuesday, at about 3:20PM, officers responded to several 911 calls reporting that a man was brandishing knives at the intersection of West Harrison Street and Elliott Avenue West. Callers further stated that the subject was chasing and threatening people.   

 After a Taser deployment, two officers fired their service weapons, striking the man. 

Officers provided first aid to the subject until Seattle Fire Department Medics arrived. Medics pronounced the man deceased at the scene. 

Detectives from the Force Investigation Team and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the incident. Representatives from the Office of Police Accountability and the Office of the Inspector General were also present during the investigation, as were representatives from the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).  Per established protocol, the KCSO will conduct an independent review.
