Detectives are investigating after a 3-year-old child died following a vehicle collision in the Madison Valley neighborhood.
At 4:45 PM Sunday, police were called to the 1800 block of 30th Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision where a child was seriously injured.
Police arrived and found a 3-year-old child who had a major head injury. They attempted CPR but the child died at the scene.
Detectives believe the driver of one of the vehicle struck a parked van the child had been playing in. When the collision occurred the child was thrown from the vehicle. A drug recognition expert tested the driver of the vehicle but did not believe the driver was intoxicated.
Detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigations Squad are now on scene and will work with the prosecutors office to determine if any charges will be filed.
