Detectives have arrested two suspects wanted in connection with a hate crime earlier this month on Capitol Hill.
On September 2nd, 2020, officers were called to investigate after the suspects assaulted two men in separate incidents near the Capitol Hill light rail station.
In both assaults, which were just minutes apart, the suspects reportedly used anti-gay slurs as they attacked the victims near the station.
Responding officers were not immediately able to locate the suspects near the scene, but SPD’s Bias Crimes Unit detective was able to obtain images of the suspects and asked officers for assistance in identifying the men. A patrol officer recognized them from a previous incident and, on Tuesday, SPD detectives arrested the suspects–both 22-year-old men–at a Pioneer Square apartment building.
