Detectives Investigating Vehicle/Building Collision, Several People Injured

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) will be conducting the investigation after a driver of a car accelerated backwards into the entrance of a Chinatown restaurant Thursday afternoon. Seven people inside the restaurant were injured and all were transported to the hospital with various injuries, at least two with life-threatening injuries.

Just before 2:00 PM, Seattle Police and Seattle Fire responded to multiple reports of a car inside a restaurant in the 600 block of South Jackson Street. First responders arrived as other patrons and witnesses were assisting individuals out of the business. The Seattle Fire Department transported four individuals to Harborview Medical Center, and at least two others went to the hospital on their own.

It appears that the driver of the Toyota Camry was attempting to park the car on South Jackson Street when the Camry went over the sidewalk and into the front of the business.

Traffic on South Jackson Street was diverted while a tow truck removed the Camry and workers began repairs. It does not appear that there was any structural damage to the building.

Detectives will continue their investigation.
