Detectives Investigating Officer Involved Shooting After Dog Attacks Three People in North Seattle

Detectives are investigating after an officer shot and killed a dog after the animal attacked three people seriously injuring one.

Officers were called to the 14100 block of Linden Avenue North for a report of an unknown disturbance at 4:30 AM Saturday.

Officers arrived and learned that there was a dog attacking people in an apartment. Officers were able to coax the dog away from a man who had severe injuries. After getting the injured man out, officers applied tourniquets to three limbs to stem the bleeding while waiting for medics to arrive. As they were outside they heard the screams of a woman still trapped inside.

Officers approached the apartment but were unable to get past the dog to the injured woman. A single officer shot and killed the dog. Officers were then able to make entry into the apartment and extricated the woman for treatment.

Medics took one man to Harborview Medical Center for serious injuries while two were treated at the scene.

Detectives with the Force Investigation Team are now investigating this shooting and will provide updates as they become available.
