On 12-05-2020 at 1922 hours, officers responded to a robbery with a gun displayed at a convenience store in the 5200 block of University Way during shift change. The suspect first went to a neighboring restaurant and requested free food. After receiving the food, he went to the convenience store. He calmly walked in, saw the store had no customers, walked over to the distracted clerk that was busy counting up the till, stuck a black handgun into the clerk’s back, and demanded all the money. The clerk emptied the till, giving the suspect the money. The suspect was displeased with the amount of cash and went through the clerk’s pockets, taking his cash as well. The suspect then calmly walked out west bound from the store along NE 52nd St. This robbery call came out within minutes of an earlier robbery of a convenience store in the 800 block of NE 45th St where a gun was implied, not shown (2020-336817). Third Watch Patrol assisted with an area search, with negative results. Evidence was recovered.
