On Sunday evening, officers tracked down and arrested a suspect with multiple out-of-state warrants and seized a firearm and narcotics.
At approximately 5:00pm, officers spotted a warrant suspect in the 200 block of Yesler Way. The officers were currently assigned to another call at the time but returned to the area two hours later to check for the suspect again. Having recently seen him outside, they checked his nearby apartment and could hear what they believed to be his voice inside. They waited in the hallway and eventually the suspect exited his apartment. Upon seeing officers, the male tried to run and a brief struggle ensued. During the struggle, the suspect tried to pull a handgun from his waistband, but it fell to the floor and was safely recovered by the officers.
After taking the 22-year-old man into custody, officers found 6.7grams of crack cocaine on his person as well.
The male was booked into the King County Jail for a felony assault warrant out of Alabama, a narcotics-related warrant out of Georgia, illegal possession of narcotics, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The subject is a previously convicted felon, making it illegal for him to have a gun.
