A maintenance worker in an apartment building in Belltown was stabbed early Monday evening after confronting a trespasser in his building.
Just after 5:30pm, a resident of an apartment building in the 100 block of Vine Street called 911 to report a maintenance employee in her building was fighting with a trespasser. Before police arrived, the trespasser stabbed the maintenance employee and fled from the building. Officers arrived and immediately began providing aid to the victim, who had a single stab wound to the chest. Seattle Fire responded and took over treatment, eventually transporting the 65-year-old man to the hospital. His injuries were considered non-life-threatening at the time of transport.
The suspect was described as a thin white male in his 30s or 40s, wearing a light blue mask and a hoodie over his backpack. Officers detained a man nearby who matched the description, but a witness could not identify him as the suspect.
Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact police.
