Officers arrested a 29-year-old man for a felonious assault in City Hall Park on Saturday evening, less than 24 hours after he had been arrested and booked into King County Jail for an unrelated misdemeanor assault.
Just after 9:00pm on Saturday, officers responded to a 911 call for an assault at City Hall Park. A witness saw the suspect kick the victim in the head several times after knocking him to the ground. Officers found a 62-year-old male unresponsive in the park and immediately began rendering aid. The victim had significant injuries to his face and head. Seattle Fire responded and took over treatment, eventually transporting the victim to the hospital where he was admitted to the ICU.
The suspect fled before police arrived, but the witness provided identifying and descriptive information about him. Several hours later, police returned to the park for an unrelated disturbance and located and arrested the suspect.
When the suspect was arrested, officers assigned to patrol in the Queen Anne neighborhood recognized him from an incident the night before. Just after 10:00pm on Friday December 25th, officers responded to the 300 block of Mercer Street for a male who had assaulted a security guard. The suspect swung at the guard and then head butted him when the guard restrained him. The victim had only minor injuries and declined medical treatment. The suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail for misdemeanor assault just before 1:00am on the 26th. He was returned to KCJ and booked for the felony assault just after 3:30am on the 27th.
