Police responded with Seattle Fire to a possible burglary that turned into a large fire late Monday evening, destroying several businesses in the Lake City neighborhood.
Just before 11:00pm, a caller reported several individuals were breaking into a business in a one-story strip mall in the 12700 block of 30th Ave NE. While he was still on the phone with dispatch, he watched the individuals leave in a vehicle and said the business they had burglarized was now on fire.
The Seattle Fire Department was the first on scene and immediately began fighting the fire. A recap of their response can be found here. There were no reported injuries. SFD Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be incendiary, with losses estimated at $2.7 million.
Detectives from SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad are investigating this incident. Anyone with information should call Seattle Police.
