#2020-352895/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-25-2020 at 0054 hours, officers were dispatched to a fight call in the area of SW Henderson St and 17 Av SW. The initial report was male subjects fighting but further information on the call reported that two neighbors were attempting to detain a suspect who had just stolen some Christmas decorations from a front yard. As officers were en route, the complainant reported that they believed the detained suspect was no longer breathing. The suspect had been restrained with zip-ties by the neighbors, who were also holding him down before he stopped breathing. Community members on scene started CPR and when officers arrived on scene they took over. Seattle Fire arrived later and continued CPR. Ultimately, the suspect regained a pulse and was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he is in critical condition. The scene was processed, and all parties and witnesses were interviewed.

On 12-25-2020 at 1003 hours, a call initially came out as a robbery where a weapon was displayed when a shoplifter was contacted by store security. Investigation determined no theft involved. Security was enforcing the mask up order for COVID. Suspect threatened to kill the security guard. Security escorted the suspect from the store. Once at the suspect’s vehicle the suspect produced a handgun displaying it and fleeing in his vehicle southbound on Rainier Ave S. Suspect apprehended at his mother’s residence nearby and taken into custody without further incident.
#2020-353037/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 12-25-2020 at 1035 hours, patrol responded to assist Seattle Fire with traffic control and investigate a possible structure fire arson. Upon SFD extinguishing the fire, a fire marshal stated the cause is undetermined. The location is a vacant abandoned house. Per the only witness, the house is frequented by transients seeking refuge from the winter weather.
#2020-353326/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-25-2020 at 2116 hours, a Toyota Prius was traveling NB on 4 Av S. approaching S. Holgate St. The NB traffic light was green. At the same time, a female was crossing (jaywalking) 4 Av S. just south of the intersection. The driver did not see the female because she was wearing all dark clothing and struck the female (at speed limit). The driver did not exhibit any signs of impairment. The female was transported to Harborview Medical Center for a possible head injury.
