#2020-354821/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 12-28-2020 at 0447 hours, two females were driving when they were approached by a male subject who presented his ID and a twenty-dollar bill. He asked for a ride to a nearby gas station. The victims allowed him to get into their vehicle, in the front passenger seat. They drove to the gas station at 6 Av. S./S. Michigan St. The male suspect then punched the driver and attempted to remove the keys from the ignition. Both female victims and the male suspect became involved in a physical fight for the keys and control of the vehicle. At one point the suspect put his arm around victim 2’s neck and began to strangle her. Victim #2 was able to break free at which time the suspect fled on foot from the vehicle to an unknown location. An area check for the suspect was negative.
#2020-354869/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:
On 12-28-2020 at 0655 hours, a witness heard a gunshot outside his home located at the 6000 BLK of 21 Ave SW. The witness looked out and saw a dark color, older, pickup truck, with an occupant in the back of the cargo bed. The witness stated that the vehicle slowly drove Northbound on 21 Ave SW, and he then heard one more gunshot. Officers arrived and canvassed the area for the suspects, evidence, and witnesses. Officers recovered evidence of a shooting.
#2020-355232/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 12-28-2020 at 1535 hours, officers responded to the Safeway in the 2200 block of E Madison for a report of a man with a knife. Arriving officers met Safeway security at that location and he reported the following: The armed suspect in this incident began to steal multiple items from the store. As the suspect exited the store without paying for the items, Security attempted to stop the suspect and asked him to return the items he stole. The suspect responded by brandishing a large kitchen knife and threatening to kill Safeway Security. The suspect then turned to an unrelated male trying to sell items in front of the store and threatened to kill him as well. The suspect then fled from the scene. Officers in the area searching for the suspect located him nearby and placed him under arrest. Both the knife and the stolen items were recovered from the suspect and he was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery and Investigation of Harassment.
#2020-355305/North Precinct/Second Watch:
On 12-28-2020 at 1730 hours, officers were conducting an emergent detention of a male who was located on a freeway overpass. As Seattle Fire and officers were placing the male on the AMR gurney, he spit on a firefighter’s face. The saliva likely got into the firefighter’s eyes. The male suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
#2020-355331/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 12-28-2020 at 1734 hours, patrol officers responded to the 100 block of Vine St regarding the report of a stabbing. Per the call details, the maintenance manager of a residential complex confronted a trespasser, who in return stabbed the manager in the chest with a small pocket-knife. Patrol officers rendered aid to the victim until the arrival of Seattle Fire personnel, to include applying a chest seal over the wound. Victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
#2020-355351/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 12-28-2020 at 1804 hours, officers responded to several reports of shots heard near the 2800 block of S McClellan. Officers eventually found evidence of a shooting near a homeless camp in the area. No victims or suspects were located.
#2020-355450/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-28-2020 at 2029 hours, a male who is 6 ft 200 lbs, has a concealed/carry permit and was carrying a 9mm decided to pull over on a side street in SODO to clean his car. Two suspects came up to the victim, beat him up, and robbed him of all his belongings including the 9mm. Officers searched the area but were unable to find both suspects.
#2020-355491/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-28-2020 at 2100 hours, an unknown suspect exited a vehicle, removed something from the trunk, and disappeared up the street. Shortly after, multiple shots were heard, and the suspect returned to the vehicle before fleeing. Multiple callers reported the shots, only 1 caller observed the suspect and vehicle. A single home appeared to be the intended target of the shooting. Evidence of a shooting was recovered half a block from the scene. Of the ten shots fired, only two rounds were accounted for in a pickup truck parked at the target address. After completing welfare checks on all homes in the block, it appeared no other homes were struck by gunfire. Pictures and evidence were submitted.
#2020-355552/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-28-2020 at 2253 hours, a Reporting Party called 911 stating that 4 unknown males were breaking into a business at 3006 NE 127th St., last seen leaving north in a white pickup truck. Immediately after the RP reported the building was on fire. SPD arrived and found the structure fully engulfed in flames. Seattle Fire responded and began to fight the fire, which eventually destroyed the entire strip mall. A fire marshal and SPD Arson Bomb Squad detectives were on-scene to begin the initial investigation and will handle the follow-up.
