#2020-356501/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 12-30-2020 at 0647 hours, officers responded with Seattle Fire to a suspicious fire at an apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers found the fire extinguished by the sprinkler system. A fire marshal responded and located what appeared to be a fire caused by the ignition of a liquid accelerant which was placed on the closed door of an occupied residence. No injuries or significant property damage occurred. Evidence was gathered, and no suspect information was located. Arson Bomb Squad notified.
#2020-356636/North Precinct/First Watch:
On 12-30-2020 at 1017 hours, a female stated she was walking to her vehicle when a suspect walked up and pulled a knife. They walked to the victim’s vehicle where the suspect pushed the victim into the vehicle. When the suspect climbed into the vehicle, the victim jumped out and ran away. The suspect was gone when officers arrived.
#2020-356784/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:
On 12-30-2020 at 1342 hours, a Chevy SUV, driven by an adult female, was southbound on Fauntleroy Wy SW approaching SW Oregon St. Upon entering the intersection, the SUV collided with a sedan, which was turning from eastbound Oregon to nourthbound Fauntleroy. Witness accounts favored the driver of the sedan, an elderly female, regarding right-of-way with the traffic signal. The elderly female was thought to have sustained substantial injury. Subsequent to the investigation, the injuries proved not to be as severe as originally feared.
#2020-356906/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 12-30-2020 at 1622 hours, 911 received calls and heard/felt a single loud explosion in the vicinity of the West Precinct. A caller reported seeing smoke coming from a nearby Federal property. Officers searched the area, finding several persons who heard the explosion and reported seeing a flash. No location of firing, detonation, injury, or property damage was located. The smoke was determined to be steam from a rooftop vent. The SPD Arson Bomb Squad was consulted.
#2020-356958/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:
On 12-30-2020 at 1712 hours, officers responded to a road rage incident in the 3200 block of SW Morgan St. The caller reported a male in a vehicle blocking the roadway, and when the caller asked him to move his vehicle, the driver pointed a handgun at her. The male fled the scene but was located a few minutes later when he returned to his residence. The suspect was arrested for Felony Harassment and for DUI.
#2020-357074/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-30-2020 at 2010 hours, two juveniles were walking at 30 Ave SW/SW Thistle St and a dark 4 door sedan pulled up next to them. The sedan was occupied by four males. One of the males exited the vehicle and began asking the juveniles questions. That male pulled out a handgun and demanded items from the juveniles. A couple of the occupants exited the vehicle and talked the suspect out of committing the robbery. The sedan fled the scene. The juveniles walked home, and there was a time delay in reporting the incident. The robbery may be related to a robbery that occurred at 16 Ave SW/SW Barton St (case# 2020-357077). The Robbery Unit was notified.
#2020-357077/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-30-2020 at 2025 hours, a female was driving in the alley at 16 Ave SW/SW Barton St. Suspect #1 was in the middle of the alley and the victim stopped her vehicle. Suspect 1 then displayed a handgun, while Suspect #2 approached the victim in the driver’s seat and punched her in the face. The suspects took the victim’s purse and wallet then fled the scene possibly in a vehicle. Officers conducted an area search, but the area checked clear. Both suspects were males. The Robbery Unit was notified about the incident.
#2020-357177/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 12-30-2020 at 2323 hours, a male was in the parking lot area of the Star mini-mart (8600 Rainier Ave S) when unknown individuals (two suspects) approached in a vehicle and after a brief conversation began shooting at the victim, striking him several times. The victim was then transported by an unknown individual (friend of victim) and dropped off at Fire Station #28. Victim was then transported to Harborview Medical Center for additional treatment. On scene officers were able to locate the crime scene. Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Squad processed the scene and recovered evidence.
