#2021-012147/North Precinct/First Watch:
On 01-15-2021 at 1030 hours, officers responded to a disturbance at Cascade Hall involving an assaultive client/resident. Officers initially calmed the suspect, who was off of her medications; however, without warning she spat on two officers. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Neither officer required medical attention.
#2021-12609/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2021 at 1954 hours, officers responded to the report of multiple shots fired with two persons hit in the parking lot of the Safeway in the 9200 block of Rainier Ave S. Upon arrival officers located two female victims. The first victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her lower torso. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center where she was listed as being in critical condition following surgery. The second victim was struck in the back by one of the shots. She was transported to Harborview where she was treated and interviewed by Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives. The victim stated that she was travelling on a Metro bus with her boyfriend and Victim #1. All three exited the bus at Rainier Ave S and S Henderson St. At this point a group of 4 or 5 male teens started to follow them as they walked southbound on Rainier towards the Safeway. As they walked into the Safeway parking lot, the suspects told the victims to empty their pockets. When the victims refused to do so, one suspect produced a handgun and handed it to a second suspect who began shooting at the victims. The suspects then fled the scene. Officers arrived on scene and were able to stabilize it, locate evidence of a shooting and conduct witness interviews.
