#2021-012781/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-16-2021 at 0125 hours, several employees locked up a dispensary at closing time. A female employee was walking home when three suspects robbed her at gunpoint near 95 and Greenwood. They took her work keys and cell phone from her. The suspects attempted to gain access to the store but were unable to open the door. They returned to the victim and abducted her at gunpoint and forced her to open the door and turn off the alarm. The suspects then stole a large quantity of product and cash. Robbery Unit detectives responded and processed the scene.
#2021-013019/East Precinct/First Watch:
On 01-16-2021 at 1124 hours, a witness called 911 from his apartment located in the 800 block of Jefferson St. He reported that a male was trying to force a woman into his encampment while yelling at the victim and hitting her. The encampment was in a greenbelt adjacent to his building. East Precinct officers arrived and located the victim and suspect. Initial interviews indicated that a sex crime may have occurred. Detectives were notified and responded to the call for service. After additional information was obtained through interviews with the victim and suspect, it was determined that an assault occurred. The suspect was booked.
#2021-013098/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-16-2021 at 1300 hours, patrol on-viewed a suspicious vehicle and person who reported that he had attempted to burn his vehicle in order to get the attention of police. He further reported that his family was being held hostage in a foreign county, and that he was instructed to park his truck, which contained a bomb, at the location. Patrol detained, and ultimately arrested the individual. Arson Bomb Squad detectives were on-scene working with patrol and our federal partners to quickly resolve the situation.
#2021-013094/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-16-2021 at 1313 hours, a female was in her car in front of her house. Three suspects surrounded her car. Suspect #1 was armed with a handgun. He demanded that she get out of her car. She put her head on the steering wheel and honked the car horn. Suspect #1 fired several shots into the car. The victim was not struck by any of the rounds. The suspects then ran off on foot. Patrol responded and stopped 2 possible suspects nearby; one matched the description of one of the suspects involved. K9 conducted a track that led from the scene to the location of the stop. Both juvenile suspects were taken to SPD headquarters and provided an attorney. They both invoked and did not make any statements. Suspect #1 was booked into the Youth Services Center and suspect #2 was released to his mother.
#2021-013324/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-16-2021 at 1826 hours, officers responded to the report of shots fired in a hotel room. They arrived and entered the room due to exigency and observed packaged narcotics. The room was clear of any occupants and there was no sign of a shots fired event occurring inside the room. Officers secured the room, posted officers and secured a warrant. While serving the warrant, they located suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl and suspected xanax. Officers also located a gun and paraphernalia consistent with narcotics sales and distribution.
#2021-13263/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-16-2021 at 2130 hours, patrol located a vehicle wanted in a violent robbery. Vehicle fled from officers and subsequently crashed, causing damage to two victim vehicles; one driver minor injury (fire treated on scene), the other driver uninjured. Two suspects fled on foot and were apprehended (both uninjured). Two suspects booked for multiple felonies.
#2021-013506/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-16-2021 at 2348 hours, several hundred vehicles drove around the city blocking intersections and creating gridlock. The group was first located in the south precinct then moved north and finally to the international district. According to one caller, the group uses an Instagram page to coordinate meet up locations. Other than speeding, blocking and loud noises no other offences were reported.
