#2021-015174/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 01-19-2021 at 0148 hours, officers observed a driver sleeping within her parked car with narcotics beside her in plain view. When officers woke her up, the suspect put her car in reverse and backed into a patrol car. Officers removed the struggling female from the car and placed her prone on the ground where she sustained an injury described as a fat lip by Seattle Fire. A Level 2 Use of Force investigation was initiated.

#2021-15218/North Precinct/First Watch:

On 01-19-2021 at 0335 hours, officers were traveling SB on I-5 when a large box truck drove off the 80th St overpass onto I-5. The box truck did not collide with any vehicles on I-5. I-5 SB traffic was reduced to one lane. The driver of the box truck complained of elbow pain and had lacerations to his face, but there were no other injuries known at the time. A warrant was obtained for a DUI blood draw and the suspect was placed under arrest at Harborview Medical Center. Traffic Collision Investigations screened this incident.

#2021-015224/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 01-19-2021 at 0348 hours, near the downtown waterfront, an adult victim was pushed to the ground in a random attack and robbed of keys and their vehicle. Minutes prior to the incident being reported by the victim, officers saw the vehicle eastbound at a high rate of speed and erratic. The vehicle was not pursued. The suspect collided with numerous vehicles in the East Precinct. Witnesses reported the final collision scene. Officers arrived and observed the suspect out of the vehicle and developed probable cause. The suspect was arrested for investigation of Robbery, Vehicular Assault.  DUI charges are also requested.

#2021-015562/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-19-2021 at 1258 hours, officers responded to the Morrison (DESC) for the report of a male threatening staff. The suspect barricaded himself in his unit. The Hostage Negotiation Team and SWAT responded. The suspect peacefully surrendered.

#2021-15612/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-19-2021 at 1358 hours, a call was originally broadcasted as a carjacking. The victim stated he parked his blk, Chevy, Tahoe at the school near Corson Av S/ S Willow St. When he returned from his lunch break his vehicle had been stolen. The victim was able to review evidence with campus security and identified two other vehicles as being involved. The victim located the suspects a short distance away and a confrontation took place. One suspect displayed a handgun in his waistband and the victim told them he didn’t care and jumped on the hood of the vehicle. The victim was partially dragged by the fleeing vehicle before being knocked to the ground. The victim’s stolen vehicle and another stolen vehicle used by the suspects was located a couple blocks away. Containment was established and a K9 track with the assistance of Guardian 1 were conducted. The track ended near the Airlane Hotel and the suspects likely fled in another vehicle. One vehicle was impounded to the processing room.

#2021-15827/North Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-19-2021 at 1814 hours, a male was walking his dog in Christie Park and said that two men playing ping-pong in the park called him a slur based on perceived sexual orientation. The victim went home and dropped off his dog then returned to the park and sat down where the suspects were playing. A verbal back and forth began between the victim and suspects. The suspects asked the victim to leave but he continued to bother them. According to the victim the suspects attacked him, tackling him to the ground causing injuries. Neighbors called 911 about the disturbance. The suspects drove away. Victim was intoxicated and semi-cooperative saying he had received a concussion and lost consciousness in the assault. Seattle Fire checked his injuries and left the scene. Victim said he would go to the hospital on his own. Victim feels that he was assaulted due to his sexual orientation.

#2021-015860/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-19-2021 at 1859 hours, officers responded to a report of a stabbed person near 4th Ave/Cedar St. When officers finished that incident (a false report) and began leaving that scene, somebody threw a rock through the rear window of a departing officer’s marked SPD patrol vehicle. The officer was not injured but the rear window was destroyed. A rock was found in the rear compartment. Neither the officers nor bystanders saw who threw the rock.

#2021-015918/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 01-19-2021 at 2016 ours, an intoxicated resident at the Interbay Place Apartments (DESC) piled blankets and miscellaneous items from her 3rd floor apartment into the hallway. A witness observed the suspect use 2 lighters to ignite the blankets on fire. The resulting fire filled the hallway with thick black smoke, set off smoke alarms and the fire suppression sprinkler system. Residents evacuated the floor. The resulting fire was limited to the hallway in front of the suspect’s apartment. There were 96 units occupied at the time of the fire. The suspect was taken into custody for investigation of Arson.
