#2021-022976/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 01-28-2021 at 0325 hours, officers responded to a reported burglary in progress to a secure parking garage that is attached to a condominium building. Officers arrived, found that entry had been made via a now-damaged door, and swept the garage. Officers located a male suspect inside, who immediately fled deeper into the garage before being apprehended. As the officers were taking the male suspect into custody, he began actively reaching towards his mid-section. As officers secured his arm and pulled it free, they saw that the suspect was holding a semi-automatic handgun. The handgun was quickly separated from the suspect and secured. The handgun was found to have an obliterated serial number, and the male suspect was found to be a convicted felon. The male suspect was also in possession of suspected methamphetamine and additional stolen property. The male was arrested for Investigation of Burglary, VUFA, and VUCSA. A second female suspect was also located hiding in the garage and was arrested for Investigation of Burglary.

#2021-023252/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-28-2021 at 1129 hours, a female reported she was pepper sprayed by an unknown suspect. Victim was working on her car when the suspect walked up, called her an ethnic slur and pepper sprayed her. Victim is BIPOC and believed she was targeted. Area check negative for the suspect.

#2021-23717/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 01-28-2021 at 2100 hours, officers observed a suspect passed out in a vehicle with obvious narcotics in plain view. Officers contacted the suspect, who attempted to put the vehicle into drive putting the officers in imminent danger of being assaulted with the vehicle. After briefly resisting arrest, the suspect was taken into custody for Assault 3, VUCSA, and DUI. Type II Use of Force reported.

#2021-023736/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 01-28-2021 at 2136 hours, officers responded to multiple calls of a stabbing in the 1500 block of 13 Av. Officers arrived and found an uncooperative victim with a minor stab wound in the shoulder. Officers made contact with the stabbing suspect via telephone and had him respond to the scene. All parties were interviewed, and it was determined there was a disagreement between mutual friends which resulted in the stabbing victim assaulting the suspect who claims he used his knife in self-defense. The incident was thoroughly documented, and no arrest was made.
