Providing further evidence that there’s nothing good on the radio anymore, police found a handgun creatively stashed behind a man’s car stereo Wednesday evening while investigating a shooting in Yesler Terrace.
Around 7:45 PM, police received reports of gunfire in the 900 block of Yesler Way. Witnesses reported a black or green BMW had sped away from the scene and officers found the vehicle a short time later and pulled the driver over at 9th and Madison.
Officers found a shell casing stuck in the car’s sunroof, but the 37-year-old driver told police he didn’t have a firearm.
Police obtained a search warrant for this vehicle and found a handgun—registered to someone other than the driver—hidden behind the car’s stereo. Officers also found a ballistic vest in the trunk.
Officers booked the man into the King County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm.
