#2021-027381/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 02-02-2021 at 0626 hours, a Chevy Tahoe, driven by an adult male, was westbound on Pine St. A white Toyota and a grey Kia, both driven by adult females, were northbound on 8th Av. All three vehicles collided in the intersection. The driver and only occupant of the Toyota sustained significant bodily injury. The driver and only occupant of the Kia suffered minor injury. The driver of the Tahoe sustained a significant injury. He was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert, who was in town while off-duty and responded to the page request. The driver exhibited signs of impairment. The adult male is under guard at the hospital until booking for Investigation of Vehicular Assault. In addition to impairment, speed is also considered to be a factor.
#2021-027781/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 02-02-2021 at 1430 hours, officers responded to the 800 block of E Denny Way to investigate a possible bias incident. Officers responded to the location and observed that someone wrote “white power” on several doors at the apartment complex using some form of marker. The graffiti was photographed by the victim and came off with some rubbing alcohol. None of the contacted victims felt targeted and just wanted the incident documented. Officers conducted a search for additional evidence but were not able to locate any.
#2021-279079/West Precinct/Second Watch: On 02-02-2021 at 1716 hours, Seattle Fire Firefighters at the 4 and Battery station were told that there was a man setting a fire at the gas meter attached to their building. The firefighters witnessed the subject setting fire to combustibles placed at the gas meter. Firefighters detained the suspect until officers arrived. The suspect admitting setting the fire and said he set the fire because he had no place to go and he wanted to go to jail. A fire marshal estimated the damage at $1000. The suspect also matched the description and admitted to setting a dumpster fire by the 5 Point cafe today. He was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Arson. #2021-28102/East Precinct/Third Watch: On 02-02-2021 at 2148 hours, officers responded to a reported burglary in the 1100 block of E Union St at a high-end retail store. There were multiple suspects on scene, and one was reported to be armed with a pistol. As officers arrived, the suspects entered a silver sedan, fleeing east on Madison St. The sedan driver quickly lost control and struck a tree, causing severe damage to the vehicle. The three suspects fled on foot and officers flooded the scene to assist in the foot pursuit. One suspect was followed to the 1400 block of Broadway and arriving officers apprehended him, resulting in a Type II Use of Force. That suspect was positively linked to the burglary and was the suspect who was reported to be armed with the gun at the scene. Search incident to his arrest yielded a large quantity of illegal drugs. The suspect was booked for Investigation of Burglary, Felony Harassment and VUCSA. The vehicle was impounded to the processing room and appeared to have stolen merchandise from the store. Two suspects are still outstanding, and the firearm was not recovered. The vehicle is pending a search warrant. |
