Officers arrested a burglary suspect after he stole cash registers and cigarettes from a Beacon Hill grocery store early Monday morning.
At about 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 4800 block of Beacon Avenue South. As they arrived, officers saw the suspect fleeing the store on foot. Officers located the suspect in a nearby backyard and took him into custody.
Police recovered about $2,000 in stolen cash and merchandise from the business, as well as bolt cutters, a battery powered saw, and a pry tool the suspect may have used to enter the business.
Police booked the 27-year-old suspect into King County Jail for investigation of burglary.
