#2021-061623/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 03-13-2021 at 0248 hours, a suspect was seen entering a parking lot carrying burning material. The suspect used the burning material to start a fire in a parked/unoccupied refrigeration box truck. The fire then spread to the truck parked next to it, and the warehouse. Total damages are approx. $35000. The Arson Bomb Squad responded to the scene to handle the investigation.

#2021-061681/East Precinct/First Watch:

On 03-13-2021 at 0530 hours, officers responded to an alarm at a construction site where the suspect had been observed entering the fenced-off site. The first officer arrived and observed the suspect inside the site going through items. As backing units were responding the suspect saw that police had arrived and was compliant with orders. The subject was taken into custody without incident and an arriving employee verified that the subject was not authorized to be inside the site. The subject was booked for burglary.

#2021-62007/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 03-13-2021 at 1406 hours, an SPD sergeant was sitting in a parking lot of a clothing store. This store is notorious for the high volume of thefts and related criminal activity. While parked in the lot, the sergeant saw a suspect exit the clothing store with employees following. When the employees saw the sergeant, they pointed at the suspect indicating that he had committed a crime in the store. The sergeant detained the suspect and was waiting for additional units to assist. Moments later, the suspect attempted to flee from the sergeant on foot. The sergeant was able to catch up to the suspect and attempt to restrain him. During the melee, the suspect swung at the sergeant’s head with an impact weapon multiple times. The sergeant was able to disarm the suspect and hold him down on the ground until officers arrived. The suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for Felony Assault of a Police Officer after being treated at Harborview Medical Center for a preexisting injury. The sergeant was not injured. The incident was screened by the Force Investigation Team.

#2021-62106/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:

On 03-13-2021 at 1637 hours, numerous callers reported shots fired in the area of 16th AV SW and SW Barton St. A witness reported seeing the shooter and described him as a male 108-195 lbs, wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and white “sneakers”. That witness pointed him out to officers arriving in the area. A contact team was formed and the suspect was detained without incident. A firearm (with an obliterated serial number) was recovered (as well as a magazine and shell casings) from his person. Evidence of a shooting was recovered at the scene as well. We did not locate a victim. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail as he is a convicted felon.

#2021-06229/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 03-13-2021 at 1936 hours, officers responded to a report of threats to shoot victim with a firearm displayed. Multiple units responded to the area and met at rally point. Updates from radio advised that suspect was on foot down street from victim residence armed with firearm. When the suspect began walking back towards the victim address, officers moved up, contacted suspect and took him into custody without incident. Firearm had fallen down suspects pants and gotten stuck in leg cuff of pants. Officers recovered firearm. Suspect booked for investigation of assault.

#2021-062273/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 03-13-2021 at 2056 hours, an officer observed a male making a fire dangerously close to a building. She contacted the suspect, who turned towards her while pulling an approximately 6″ fixed blade knife from a sheath. The officer gave commands for the suspect to drop the knife and called for backup. Numerous officers responded. The suspect dropped the knife and was taken into custody. He was subsequently booked into the King County Jail for investigation of Harassment.

#2021-62296/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 03-13-2021 at 2104 hours, a victim reported being on the route 21 Metro bus when first approached by the unknown suspect. A brief conversation ensued, and the victim got off the bus. The suspect followed. The suspect then attacked the victim by punching them several times in the face, body and legs. Victim’s phone was destroyed during the attack, and the suspect forcibly took the victim’s iPad Pro and ran off. Victim had obvious minor injuries and was examined by Seattle Fire but declined any further treatment or transport. Area check was made but suspect was not located.
