#2021-73246/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 03-26-2021 at 1500 hours, officers responded to an assault at a local mental health housing facility. The investigation resulted in the arrest of an armed felon. An officer wrote two search warrants. As a squad, officers served the warrants. One warrant was on the suspect’s vehicle, and a second warrant was on the suspect’s apartment inside the mental health facility. The warrants yielded a pistol, multiple high capacity magazines, hundreds of rounds of military grade ammunition, and military body armor.
#2021-073344/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 03-26-2021 at 1651 hours, numerous callers from around the Cascade Play Field near Minor Ave. & Harrison St. reported hearing multiple rapid gunshots and screaming from the park, with multiple people fleeing in vehicles. Witnesses reported a group of 2 females and 2 males, possibly with a couple of children, were involved in the disturbance that resulted in the shooting. Although the involved parties fled in multiple vehicles, witnesses primarily described a white Crown Victoria, providing a license plate also. Officers arrived quickly but found no victims. Evidence of a shooting was found next to the playground facing an apartment building across the street. A parked car between those casings and the building had been struck by two bullets, and the building had at least one bullet hole. That bullet penetrated the exterior wall, a closet wall, the opposite closet wall, and wound up in the drywall separating that unit from another unit. Fortunately, that unit is vacant. The bullet-riddled suspect or victim vehicle was found in Belltown shortly afterwards and the owner was interviewed by a Gun Violence Reduction Unit Detective at the scene. Although not matching the shooter’s description, he was arrested for outstanding warrants. The GVRU Detectives will be conducting follow-up investigation.
#2021-073460/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 03-26-2021 at 1959 hours, officers responded to the area S Massachusetts ST / Rainier AV S for a report of shots fired. Officers learned that two cars were seen chasing each other and shots were fired from at least one of the vehicles. No one was injured although a victim vehicle was located with bullet damage. Officers collected evidence.
