Police Chase, Arrest Felon Carrying Two Guns

Police arrested a man with multiple felony warrants and recovered two loaded guns he was carrying in his pockets Monday afternoon.

SPD officers working with the US Marshals Violent Offender Task Force located a felony warrant suspect in the 1900 block of East Madison Street on Monday shortly before 1:00 p.m. When officers contacted the man to place him under arrest, he ran, but officers soon caught up to him as he attempted to climb a fence into a construction zone. The man struggled with an officer who attempted to pull him off the fence, causing the fence to give way. Both the officer and the suspect fell down an approximately 10-foot embankment into the construction zone, where the suspect was finally taken into custody.

When police searched the man after arrest, they located two loaded pistols in his pants and jacket pockets. The suspect is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms.

The 35-year-old man was booked into the King County Jail for his felony warrants for the crimes of assault in the third degree, escape from community custody, and unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree. SPD detectives requested new charges for unlawful possession of a firearm for the two guns he was carrying at the time of arrest.
