On 03-31-2021 at 1527 hours, a construction site manager received phone threats from a recently fired worker threatening to shoot manager when he returned to work. Victim asserted the suspect was “known to carry a Glock pistol.” Another worker soon saw the suspect outside the work site. Officers arrived a few minutes later and saw the suspect. He started walking towards them and put his right hand in his pant pocket to hold something. The driver saw the shape of what appeared to be a gun in the pocket, and even an exposed trigger guard. The officer quickly drove around and reoriented the vehicle in a safer location to detain the suspect at gun point, triggering a Fast Back-up by Radio. Numerous West and East officers arrived and arrested the suspect without incident (video recorded by numerous bystanders at a bus stop). No gun was found on suspect or in the area. K9 responded to search for a firearm but video showed the suspect never sloughed anything in the brief time he was out of view of the officers, so he apparently had no gun during the incident. Suspect claimed his threat to bring “his gun and bullets” was a reference to his arms and fingers, to fight the victim, not a threat to shoot. He was booked for felony harassment, nonetheless.
