Seattle police arrested a 34-year-old woman after she set a series of fires in Georgetown early Monday.
Around 4:30 AM, police received a report that someone had set fire to 10 garbage and recycling containers outside an apartment building near 4th Avenue South and South Michigan Street.
Surveillance video from a the building showed a woman igniting items in garbage cans and walking away.
While officers were investigating at the scene, they received additional reports of set fires in garbage cans at a nearby gas station and credit union office.
Witnesses described a suspect similar to the woman seen on the apartment’s surveillance video.
Officers continued searching the area and received a report of a fire set outside of a motel on East Marginal Way South. While responding to that scene, they found the suspect a short distance away and took her into custody.
Officers booked the 34-year-old woman into the King County Jail for arson.
