On 04-21-2021 at 1702 hours, a female suspect entered the Key Bank branch at 321 15 AV E where she loitered around in the lobby for several minutes before she walked up to a teller and passed a note indicating a bank robbery. The teller walked into the vault and activated the alarm, prompting the suspect to flee the bank on foot. No weapon was seen nor implied and the suspect was unsuccessful in obtaining any money. For unknown reasons, the bank’s alarm company did not notify SPD immediately and approximately 10 minutes had passed by the time police were called. Multiple SPD patrol units responded quickly once the notification was made. Officers cleared the bank and checked the area for the suspect with negative result. Due to the time delay and heavy pedestrian traffic in the area, no K9 track was attempted. Robbery Unit was notified.
