#2021-110161/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 05-06-2021 at 0400 hours, an officer responded to a report of 10-12 males physically fighting and someone shooting at an unknown target of this brawl. Victim of a stray bullet was in his car on I-90 eastbound going to Issaquah. He refused to return to aid in the investigation. Confirmed he had damage to his vehicle, yet still refused to return. Officer gave radio authorization for a unit to meet the victim at a mutual halfway point, but victim still declined. Officers responded to the area. This location is a chronic focal point for violence. No people or cars were left at the scene upon arrival of SPD.
#2021-100923/North Precinct:
On 04-13-2021 an unknown suspect entered a Chase Bank armed with a rifle and handgun. He held employees and citizens at gun point while demanding cash. At one point, the suspect fired a round from his handgun into the ceiling. The suspect fled in a dark-colored sedan (#21-89428). On 04-25-21 a known suspect entered a victim’s RV, demanded money owed to him, then shot the victim, and struck him several times in the head with a handgun. An officer assigned to the Robbery Unit was assigned both of these cases. On 05-06-2021, through his investigative efforts, that officer developed probable cause to arrest a suspect for both of the above crimes. SPD SWAT served the warrant at the suspect’s residence and took him into custody.
#2021-110335/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:
On 05-06-2021 at 0849 hours, King County units were in pursuit of a vehicle that was eluding them and at one point rammed some of their units. The pursuit ended with a single vehicle collision and one of the occupants fled on foot. Seattle Police units arrived on scene and assisted in controlling the scene and checking the area for the outstanding passenger. K9 did not deploy the dog but assisted in the search. The subject was found and taken into custody without incident. The subject was turned over to King County Sheriff’s Office Units. SPD units then provided traffic control until relieved by County Units.
#2021-111598/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 05-06-2021 at 1155 hours, the victim in this incident was taking a photo of Lumen Field with his I-phone when he was slammed to the ground by a suspect riding by him on a bicycle. The suspect then snatched the victim’s phone and fled on the bicycle. The victim suffered a broken hand and a contusion to his face. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. The victim’s wedding ring had to be sawed off his hand due to the broken hand. This destroyed the ring. The victim tracked his phone to a homeless encampment at 10th and Dearborn but could not get the signal to remain active.
#2021-110755/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 05-06-2021 at 1630 hours, Seattle Fire responded to reports of a fire at the location and found the suspect inside, holding a knife to his own throat. The fire was quickly extinguished; SPD patrol responded, set up containment, then requested the Hostage Negotiation Team, SWAT, and the Arson Bomb Squad. After negotiating with the suspect, he peacefully surrendered and was transported to Harborview Medical Center for smoke inhalation. ABS Detectives are actively investigating the incident and will handle any follow-up.
#2021-110901/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-06-2021 at 2100 hours, a group of approx. 14 subjects dressed in all black gathered in the North end of Cal Anderson park. Officers monitored the group from a distance to de-escalate and the group marched directly to the East Precinct where they pushed a rolling dumpster down the ramp (12th Av side) to the garage, causing significant damage to the roll-up door and rendering it inoperable. Due to the group’s behavior, officers monitored the group at close range. Officers in conjunction with the East desk clerk were able to positively identify one of the subjects involved with pushing the dumpster and took them into custody. The subject was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of malicious mischief. No additional crimes were observed. Facilities was contacted and advised of the damaged door.
