Police arrested a 34-year-old woman on Capitol Hill late Thursday after a group of black-clad protesters caused significant damage to one of the East Precinct’s entries.
Around 11:30 PM, a group of approximately 15 protesters marched from Cal Anderson Park to the nearby East Precinct. Several members of the group pushed a large dumpster down a ramp outside the precinct, slamming the dumpster into a garage door. The impact caused significant damage, and disabled the door to the garage, which is used by emergency vehicles responding to 911 calls.
SPD officers caught one of the suspects—the 34-year-old woman—a short distance away and took her into custody. Police booked her into the King County Jail for malicious mischief.
SPD is working to assess the cost of repairing the damage.
