#2021-115468/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-12-2021 at 0006 hours, three victims got into an argument with the suspect. During the argument, the three victims ran across the street to the Walgreens parking lot while the suspect was shooting at them. The suspect fled the scene on foot. One of the victims was shot in the groin and taken to Harborview Medical Center by Seattle Fire.

#2021-115561/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-12-2021 at 0440 hours, patrol responded to the report of a vehicle colliding into a pole and flipping on to its top. The call was updated that the vehicle was also on fire. SPD and Seattle Fire arrived to find the lone occupant out of the vehicle. The pole had sustained severe damage and City Light responded as well. The entire roadway was closed during the response. The driver was found to be impaired and arrested for DUI. City Light determined the pole would need to be replaced and called its team to respond. The replacement would take several hours and require the closure of some lanes. S-DOT arrived and took over the lane closures.

#2021-115721/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-12-2021 at 0915 hours, a roll on-roll off container truck was southbound on Airport Way. The large container full of scrap metal was not properly secured. In the 1700 block of Airport Way the container fell off the truck blocking north and southbound lanes with debris for approximately an hour and forty-five minutes. A parked unoccupied car was damaged by debris. Traffic, S-DOT, and CVE responded detouring traffic around the scene.

#2021-115891/North Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-12-2021 at 1200 hours, a female victim reported that she was in the vicinity of Green Lake training a dog with a friend. An unknown male suspect drove up and parked nearby. Eventually the suspect fixated on her and started making disparaging comments toward her and repeatedly called her a “bitch”. The victim attempted to disengage but the suspect continued to escalate, eventually making threatening comments and pulling out a backpack while reaching into it and making sounds like gunshots. The victim feared the suspect was retrieving a firearm and moved farther away from the suspect. Eventually the suspect drove away in an unknown direction. No firearm was ever displayed. The suspect was not located.

#2021-115818/East Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-12-2021 at 1354 hours, earlier in the day, a male victim was having a business meeting at a public place where he put his phone on the table. A suspect walked by the table, grabbed the victim’s cell phone which also contained the victim’s ID and a business credit card, and continued to walk away. Patrol officers responded to investigate the theft and the victim was able to ping his cellphone to an encampment in the East Precinct area. Officers responded to the encampment together with the victim where they located the suspect, still in possession of the victim’s cellphone. Officer detained the suspect in handcuffs at the scene while the primary unit continued with the investigation. When the suspect found out that he was going to jail, he attempted to flee the scene. During his fleeing attempt, the suspect head-butted an officer in the face, causing pain and swelling. Officers restrained the suspect with de-minimis force until more units arrived at the scene. Seattle Fire was summoned to the scene due to the suspect claiming he “can’t breathe.” The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for assault on a police officer and felony theft. The victim’s cellphone was recovered but the suspect had damaged it beyond repair. The victim’s ID and business credit card was still missing. The victim officer was later transported to the hospital to check on his injury. East Precinct Watch Commander was notified.

#2021-116327/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-12-2021 at 2141 hours, officers responded to a fight disturbance involving a knife. They arrived and located the involved parties and established probable cause for Felony Harassment and Assault 4. They arrested the intoxicated suspect and as they were loading him into a patrol vehicle, he kicked an officer. There were no injuries to the officer and no force was used. The suspect was also booked for Assault 3.

#2021-116366/South Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-12-2021 at 2202 hours, officers responded to numerous reports of shots heard, near the intersection of 37th Ave S / S Oregon St. Officers arrived to find two adult male victims, with gunshot wounds (GSW) to their legs. A third adult male victim later arrived at Harborview Medical Center (self-transported), with a GSW to his side. On scene evidence indicated that two suspects fired from the intersection of 39th/Oregon, towards a group gathered at 38th/Oregon. One person within this group returned fire (one shot). Gun Violence Reduction Unit Detectives processed the scene and recovered evidence. GVRU Detectives also conducted victim interviews at the hospital. Bullet damage and two projectiles were located at a residence, near the intersection of 35th/Oregon. One involved vehicle was impounded. GVRU will handle follow-up responsibilities.
