#2021-116707/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-13-2021 at 0825 hours, a subject entered Safeway, went to the back stockroom employee area, rummaged through lockers, stole a scarf to use as a mask. When confronted by employees, the subject threatened to rape a female employee, scaring her. A male employee confronted subject telling him to leave as they were in a shopping aisle. Subject pointed fingers at him like a gun said, “Pop, pop, pop, I’m tired of dealing with you! Go back to your own country! This is America”. Subject exited the store. Subject pretended to give a dollar to a pan-handler, but then stole the pan-handler’s money. Officers arrived, attempted to corral subject and as they were going hands-on the subject broke and ran. Subject appeared under the influence of narcotics. In his flight he ran right into a parked SPD push bar, causing the subject to stumble and fall. He tried to get up and run but looked back and slammed into a cart corral stumbling and falling again injuring his hand, arm and leg. Officer responded and treated him. Booked into the King County Jail for hate crime & felony harassment. Emails sent to Bias Crimes and Violent crimes Capt.

#2021-116825/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-13-2021 at 1023 hours, in the Yesler/Financial Neighborhood, a 911 call was generated when a person was observed swinging a knife randomly in air and not at a person, disrupting businesses and foot traffic. The scene was contained. During the incident the person placed the knife on a concrete stair. An officer picked up the knife, making the scene safe. The subject was cooperative with the police.

#2021-116836/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-13-2021 at 1036 hours, communications received a call transfer from the Washington State Patrol. An unknown female was screaming about someone moving a car and had a gun. An outreach person knows of the woman who recently took over the large plywood constructed shelter. Describes the woman as vulnerable. Officers were not able to establish certainty that the woman or suspect were present. Multiple failed contacts via phone and PA done. Legal Authority and Lawful Purpose evaporated. Care was taken to ensure the woman’s safety. Patrol officers with assistance used a shield to move halfway up to the shelter. The team cleared the shelter confirming a rundown Toyota was behind it, but no resident or suspect present. Officers backed out with no other reason to investigate any longer.

#2021-116857/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-13-2021 at 1052 hours, a suspect assaulted a victim with machete near T-Mobile Park and fled on foot eastbound from the scene. A patrol sergeant happened to be in the area at the time and located the suspect nearby. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended and placed into custody. A witness show-up was completed and the weapon was recovered. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his head and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail and the weapon was placed in evidence.

#2021-116967/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-13-2021 at 1249 hours, two suspects entered the Arco near Rainier Av S/ S McClellan St. They began selecting some snacks and were going to leave without paying. The store clerk electronically locked the door and one of the subjects produced a dark colored firearm from his backpack pointing it at the clerk demanding to be let out. The clerk unlocked the door and the suspects were last seen walking on Rainier Av S. Officers arrived setting up containment and a K-9 track was conducted with negative results due to heavy foot traffic. Evidence was collected.

#2021-116998/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-12-2021 at 1312 hours, the report of an accidental discharge of a firearm was made. The victims live in unit #5 and the gunshot came from apartment #6. Officers were able to contact the suspect in unit 6 and documented the accidental discharge. Today the same thing occurred. We were able to get the occupants out of the residence. A plan was made to apprehend the suspect; however, we were unable to locate the suspect. SWAT was notified initially but not requested to the scene. SWAT called me back and would have responded but we were leaving the scene. An ERPO will be pursued.

#2021-117139/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-13-2021 at 1543 hours, an officer was flagged down in the area of Delridge WY SW and SW Andover. The victim reported that an unknown suspect threatened him because his perceived ethnicity. The suspect also used racial slurs as well. The disturbance began on a Metro coach. When officers got the situation under control the coach left the area with the suspect on the bus. The victim was not initially cooperative with the investigation. The victim apologized for his initial behavior and said, “sorry, I get emotional”. The suspect was not located. The necessary notifications were made.

#2021-117353/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-13-2021 at 1947 hours, officers responded to the report of a man with a gun call in the 9400 block of Delridge Way SW. A tactical response was put in place prior to arrival at the scene. The suspect was advised over the phone to exit the apartment unarmed and meet with responding officers. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into King County Jail for felony harassment. A loaded handgun was recovered from the scene. Captain was notified of the incident.
