I-5 Shutdown While Officers Provide Mental Health Services to Man in Need

Police shut down I-5 Sunday morning while they spoke with a man threatening to harm himself on a freeway overpass.

Officers responded to the I-5 overpass at Olive Way Sunday morning for reports of a man hanging onto the rail over the freeway.

As Officers arrived they immediately contacted Washington State Patrol to shut down I-5 in an attempt to mitigate any risk to the public below. Crisis intervention officers spoke with the man who eventually came back over the rail and was taken to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation.
