Police arrested a 38-year-old man for burglary after a witness, who was doing chores, spotted the suspect breaking into a neighbor’s Capitol Hill home.
A man was washing dishes inside his apartment, in the 1100 block of 10 Avenue East around 7 PM Tuesday when he saw a man approach his neighbor’s home, pull out a knife, and pry open a window. The witness called 911 to report the burglary.
Officers arrived and found the suspect had already left the home but not before stealing two laptop computers, a set of headphones, and some checks.
Based on the witness’s description of the burglar, officers were able to find the 38-year-old suspect just blocks away. Officers searched the suspect’s bag and found all of the stolen items. Police later booked the suspect into King County Jail for investigation of burglary and returned the stolen property.
