#2021-143433/East Precinct/First Watch:
On 06-10-2021 at 0700 hours, officers responded to Safeway store in the capitol hill area to investigate a male subject who stole merchandise (sandwiches) and exited the store. Loss prevention (LP) agent stopped the subject outside the entry doors and was only verbally issuing a Trespass Admonishment when the suspect suddenly pulled out a large knife (fixed blade), in an intimidating manner and stated, “You want to do something about it” The LP agent took this in a threatening manner and backed away from the suspect who then walked away s/b on 14 Av. E. No assault or injuries occurred. Officers set up containment and roved the area looking for the suspect who was not located. K-9 was not available to respond at this time. Robbery unit notified about the incident.
#2021-143633/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:
On 06-10-2021 at 1108 hours, witnesses reported that a black or grey BMW was N/B in the 8800 block of 29 AV. SW chasing another vehicle, possibly a Volvo. A suspect was seen shooting a handgun from the passenger window at the vehicle it was chasing. An uninvolved parked vehicle in the 8800 block of 29 SW sustained projectile damage. No injuries were reported. Patrol secured a crime scene and the Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to process the scene. Evidence of a shooting was recovered from 29 Av. SW.
#2021-143724/North Precinct/Second Watch:
On 06-10-2021 at 1315 hours, the SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad was called to assist patrol on-scene of a suspicious package. ABS determined that the package was of no threat and turned the investigation over to patrol.
#2021-143806/North Precinct/Second Watch:
On 06-10-2021 at 1437 hours, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of NE 65 for a report of an assault on a construction flagger. Officers located the suspect and placed him under arrest. As the suspect was being placed in the back of a patrol car, he kicked at an officer striking him in the knee causing pain. Suspect was booked into the King County Jail.
#2021-144015/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 06-10-2021 at 1836 hours, officers responded to a road rage incident. The victim called 911 to report he was being followed by a vehicle. When the victim stopped his vehicle to ask the driver of the vehicle why he was following him, the passenger of the vehicle pulled out what the victim believed was a handgun. The victim described the passenger as a 12-year-old male and the driver as a 45-year-old male. The handgun was an airsoft type gun, the victim was struck twice in his left forearm and his vehicle was struck multiple times. The vehicle was last seen East bound from 12th and Thomas.
#2021-144114/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 06-10-2021 at 2038 hours, officers responded to a shooting call in the area of 23 Av S and S Jackson St. Officers arrived and located a crime scene with evidence, however no suspects or victims were at the scene. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center by the caller in a personal vehicle. The victim sustained serious injuries. Patrol processed the scene, and the vehicle was impounded. Gun Violence Reduction Unit also responded.
#2021-144090/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 06-10-2021 at 2105 hours, officers responded to the 1800 block of Yale Ave regarding a high/intoxicated subject refusing to leave the premises. In speaking with the subject, officers were able to get him to exit the building. Moments later, the suspect re-entered, and attempted to push past the two officers, who attempted to stop him. As they were doing so, the subject slapped one of the officer’s hands away. As the officers attempted to take him into custody, a scuffle ensued. During the incident, one officer sustained a bloody nose, and the subject sustained a minor abrasion to his face. It was later determined the subject had just been released from jail two days prior for assaulting a King County Sheriff’s Deputy. Subject was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault. A Type II Use of Force report was submitted.
#2021-144206/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 06-10-2021 at 2303 hours, the reporting party (RP) reported a noose hanging from the exterior of an abandoned bank building. The investigation uncovered several additional ropes made out the same material and tied using the same knot, being used to secure a tarp to the side of the building. The RP was unavailable for contact to determine their perception of what made this a bias circumstance.
#2021-144233/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 06-10-2021 at 2335 hours, the suspect – who was driving a dark colored sedan – approached the victim and asked if he was from a specific foreign country. Upon replying affirmatively, the suspect pepper-sprayed the victim and robbed him of his money. Officers did an area check for the suspect, but the victim refused to provide a description.
