#2021-160401/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 06-27-2021 at 0740 hours, officers were dispatched to a trespass/disturbance at a hotel. When officers arrived, the Reporting Party (RP), an employee of the victim business, stated the suspect had shut-off power to the building, pulled multiple fire alarms causing a panic and emergency evacuation of the building and had then fled northbound through an alley. Upon contact with officers the suspect fled. Officers placed the suspect into custody after utilizing a Type II Use of Force. The suspect is being evaluated at Harborview Medical Center after claiming he swallowed narcotics. Hospital guard established until he can be booked.
#2021-160758/North Precinct/Second Watch:
On 06-27-2021 at 1553 hours, a resident began yelling and cursing at a man living in a car parked in a residential neighborhood because of his homeless status. The suspect then fired multiple shots from a BB gun at the male victim’s vehicle, striking the driver’s window three times and breaking the glass. The victim was hit in the face with either a BB or a piece of flying glass, resulting in very minor injury. The suspect then threatened to murder the victim. The suspect was later arrested at the scene without incident and booked into the King County Jail.
#2021-160782/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 06-27-2021 at 1623 hours, a patrol sergeant was talking with a community member outside of the East Precinct when a male suspect approached. Without any provocation, the suspect slapped the community member in the face in front of the sergeant. The sergeant reached out his hand and ordered the suspect to stop. The suspect slapped the sergeant’s hand away and ran away. A foot pursuit was then initiated with additional officers joining in. After several orders to stop with no success, a Taser was deployed with no effect. The suspect then ran for another block before he stopped and gave up. Officers then arrested the suspect. Seattle Fire was called to screen the suspect. Per SFD, the suspect sustained no injury from the Taser deployment, but he required medical attention due to his own psychological and medical condition. Due to significant staffing shortage, no hospital guard was assigned. The suspect was ITA’d to the hospital with charges requested for misdemeanor assault, assault on a police officer, and obstruction. A Type II Use of Force report was completed. Hazard report completed.
#2021-160906/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 06-27-2021 at 1841 hours, officers were dispatched to Harborview Medical Center for a report of a male who was brought in with a gunshot wound. The victim was stabilized, and his injuries were not life threatening. Patrol responded and interviewed both the uncooperative victim and his girlfriend who drove him to the hospital. It was determined the shooting happened near Yesler Terrace Park. West officers were requested to assist, and the scene was located within an encampment. No people were found in the encampment and all tents were checked for victims as evidence of a shooting was found. East officers then responded to the location of the shooting and collected evidence. Gun Violence Reduction Unit notified.
#2021-160990/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 06-27-2021 at 2013 hours, officers on-viewed a disturbance in Cal Anderson Park. Officers investigated and detained a subject who was pointed out by witnesses as the agitator. One victim came forward and stated the subject used bias language prior to assaulting him and the victim believed the assault was because of his protected status. The suspect was arrested for Hate Crime and booked into the King County Jail. Bias crimes email sent.
#2021-161091/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 06-27-2021 at 2154 hours, an officer observed a subject throwing items from his tent into the roadway on 8th Av. Traffic had stopped and community members were pointing the officer toward the subject. The officer contacted the subject via Public Address and ordered him to stop throwing items into the street. The subject then targeted the officer’s patrol vehicle with unopened bottles of water. One of the bottles struck the driver’s side spotlight causing damage. Additional officers responded and a plan was formed to contact the subject. The subject walked away towing a rolling style suitcase. As the officers approached the subject on foot he threw items at the officers, but none of the items struck them. When the officers got close to the subject, he suddenly swung the large suitcase at the group of three officers, but the officers were able to dodge the suitcase and immediately subdue the subject. The subject was subsequently booked into the King County Jail for Assault 3rd degree.
#2021-161139/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 06-27-2021 at 2245 hours, officers responded to the vicinity of 29 AV S/S Brandon St in response to a shots-fired call. An area check resulted in the discovery of evidence of a shooting. There was no observed property damage or reported victims, and patrol was not notified of any gunshot wound patients at nearby emergency rooms. Officers processed and cleared the scene.
