SPD detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who fired a handgun following a dispute near Westlake Park earlier this month.
On June 19th, just before 4pm, officers responded to a report of gunfire near 4th Avenue and Pine Street around Westlake Park.
The pictured suspect reportedly confronted representatives of a religious group who were handing out literature at the northwest corner of the intersection.
During the confrontation, the suspect retrieved a handgun from a bag, carried by the pictured woman, and fired it at least five times. No one was struck by the gunfire.
During the incident, the male suspect was wearing a t-shirt that said “Black is the new Black” in pink letters, which he later removed. The suspects fled through the Pike Place Market.
The male suspect has long dreadlocks or braids gathered into pigtails. The man and woman were accompanied by a female child, who appears to be around five years old.
