#2021-164351/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-01-2021 at 0043 hours, officer responded to the area of Lake Washington Bv S / S Irving St (E Portal Viewpoint Park) for a report of a shooting. Officers located a scene with evidence of a shooting, two victim vehicles with multiple rounds impacting them, and a group of victims who were not struck. The victims reported a group of suspects parked at the location and ambushed them. The victims reported one of the suspects advanced on them firing a rifle. Rifle fragments were located at the scene. An estimated 20-30+ shots were fired. Gun Violence Reduction Unit screened the incident and patrol processed it.

#2021-164555/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 07-01-2021 at 0815 hours, Patrol and Seattle Fire were dispatched to the location for a reported fire. The Fire Marshal was on-scene and determined the fire was intentionally set. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad detectives responded to assist patrol and start the investigation.

#2021-165010/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 07-01-2021 at 1810 hours, officers responded to a report of an assault/ possible robbery. Victims and witnesses said that the suspect was caught in the store stealing items. The manager confronted the suspect and asked the suspect to give the items back and leave the store. The suspect responded by punching the store manager in the head and knocking things off the shelf. The suspect left the store with the stolen items. Security attempted to stop the suspect outside the store. The suspect pulled out what appeared to be a claw like hammer and swung the hammer at security’s head. The security guard ducked to avoid his head getting hit but he was instead hit in his shoulder. Officers arrived and arrested the suspect for robbery.

#2021-165147/South Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-01-2021 at 2132 hours, officers responded to multiple 911 calls of hearing numerous gunshots within the street area of Renton Ave S/S Ryan St. Upon arrival officers were able to locate evidence of a shooting in the street. Officers conducted an area search coming into contact with residents/witnesses who stated that they did not actually see any of the shooting but did see a black in color and a white in color sedan speeding away from the area. A check with area hospitals for any walk-in victims met with negative results. Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) responded to scene for processing/collection of evidence.
