#2021-185084/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 07-21-2021 at 0229 hours, officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired near Rainier Av S / S Othello St. Officers located evidence of a shooting. An anonymous witness stated that a suspect was firing a gun into the air from an SUV. The vehicle then fled eastbound on S Othello St. No property damage, and no victims located. Patrol processed the scene and collected evidence.
#2021-185090/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 07-21-2021 at 0300 hours, onsite security in the 1000 block of 4 AV reported a suspect had climbed onto a glass awning, pried off a large metal bar, and began smashing the large security window of a multinational bank. Officers contacted the suspect and developed Probable Cause for Felony Property damage (The window was estimated to be valued at 7K-10K) The suspect refused to climb down from his elevated position and made numerous suicidal statements. Officers contained the suspect, called for fire, and requested the SPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT). Officers and HNT negotiated with the suspect for approximately 3 hours until he climbed down and was taken into custody without further incident. He was subsequently booked into the King County Jail.
#2021-185253/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 07-21-2021 at 0822 hours, officers responded to a call of a robbery with a firearm that occurred among acquaintances in an apartment in the 200 block of Yesler Way. Officers arrived and contacted all involved parties. Officers sorted through conflicting accounts and determined that there had been an exchange of money for services. At some point during the exchange of services, there was a disagreement and disturbance that ended with the suspect brandishing a firearm at the victim. A consent to search form was completed and a search of the apartment uncovered a stolen handgun. It was determined that the suspect was a convicted felon. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Harassment, VUFA, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
#2021-185575/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:
On 07-21-2021 at 1406 hours, it was reported that a fight disturbance had occurred earlier in an encampment near SW Michigan St / SW Peninsula Pl. The fight was reportedly over narcotics and money. A few hours later, witnesses reported a large group of subjects arrived at the encampment looking for those involved in the fight. The group left a short time later. Just prior to 1400 hours, a vehicle arrived, and four suspects exited. They approached the victim’s tent carrying a shotgun and edged weapons and confronted the victim. After a brief encounter, one of the suspects fired the shotgun twice, striking the victim on the right leg just below the knee. The suspects then fled the scene and left in the vehicle they had arrived in. Witnesses called 911 and requested police assistance while others began tending to the victim’s injury and loaded him into a vehicle. Officers arrived, located the victim, and secured the scene while requesting Seattle Fire response. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center for further medical treatment. An area search was conducted with negative results for the suspects. Officers located witnesses and the crime scene, which was processed for evidence. The SPD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit and Homicide were contacted and notified of the incident. Media was on scene.
#2021-185678/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:
On 07-21-2021 at 1543 hours, officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress in the 3400 block of Harbor Ave SW. The male suspect was using a hammer and axe to break into vehicles and units. Officers arrived and found the suspect hanging out the front windshield of a vehicle he had bashed in. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary and malicious mischief.
#2021-186494/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 07-21-2021 at 1640 hours, the SPD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit assisted U.S. Marshal’s taskforce to arrest a suspect in Renton. The suspect cut off his electronic monitoring device after being charged with Assault 1, Eluding, and UPFA. A firearm was seized in the vehicle the suspect was occupying during the arrest.
#2021-185991/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 07-21-2021 at 2146 hours, officers and Gun Violence Reduction Unit Detectives responded to a shooting incident in the 9200 block of 14th Ave. SW. An unknown suspect shot into an occupied residence. No one was hit, but bullets did penetrate through the residence – into the living room where minor children were watching TV.
#2021-185841/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 07-21-2021 at 2330 hours, Major Crimes Task Force Detectives conducted a surveillance operation on two known catalytic converter thieves in the Southwest Precinct. One of the suspects had an outstanding DOC Felony Escape warrant and was taken into custody. The case is still under investigation. The suspect was booked into SCORE jail.
