Detectives are investigating after a customer shot an employee during a dispute in a downtown convenience store late Tuesday.
Minutes before 11 PM, the suspect walked into a convenience store in the 600 block of 1st Avenue and brought several items up to the cashier.
When the employee began ringing up the suspect’s items, the suspect became agitated about the cost. The employee told the man if he didn’t like the prices he could leave.
The suspect reportedly tried to punch the victim, who armed himself with a baseball bat.
The suspect began walking out of the store before pulling out a gun, shooting the victim, and fleeing.
Officers arrived at the scene and provided medical aid to the 27-year-old victim until Seattle Fire arrived. Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police collected evidence left behind at the scene by the suspect and detectives are investigating.
