#2021-203228/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 08-07-2021 at 0112 hours, a vehicle was stolen from the market area of downtown Seattle. The stolen vehicle collided with a pedestrian and a rail station platform. The possible driver of the vehicle was transported by Seattle Fire to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) for injuries sustained from the collision. The pedestrian was transported to HMC by AMR for his injuries. The collision was screened by the SPD’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad, and they requested that the vehicle be transported for further investigation.

#2021-203302/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 08-07-2021 at 0337 hours, an officer was driving south on Aurora when a vehicle drove behind him flashing its lights. Upon contact, the driver told the officer he had been shot at the Hillside Motel by a resident, whom he named. Seattle Fire transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his shoulder wound. Officers responded to the Hillside Motel, and subsequently determined the suspect’s vehicle was gone.

#2021-203446/North Precinct/First Watch:

On 08-07-2021 at 0850 hours, officers assisted a property owner with clearing his house under renovation, of trespassers. As officers entered a room, they observed and recovered an AR-15 rifle. Additionally, 2 handguns and 2 ballistics vests capable of stopping .762 rounds were also recovered. Subjects were contacted, ID’d and released from the scene.

#2021-203969/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 08-07-2021 at 1827 hours, officers were dispatched to a man in Pioneer Square waving a large kitchen knife and a metal bar. Officers used a team tactical approach and ordered suspect to drop the knife. Suspect refused and began walking southbound towards several open businesses, and pedestrians. Officers fearing for the safety of nearby citizens deployed a taser, but it had no effect. Suspect continued walking southbound still waving the knife and acting erratically. officers were yelling for citizens to clear the street, and for the suspect to drop the knife. When officers were able to get another opening, they deployed a taser for the second time. This time getting full lock up, and the suspect fell to the ground and dropped the knife. Officers were able to safely take the suspect into custody. Many witnesses commended officers on their restraint and proper handling of the incident. Type 2 Use of Force completed. No injuries to suspect, officers or the general public. Suspect arrested and booked.

#2021-204045/South Precinct/Third Watch:

On 08-07-2021 at 2012 hours, an abandoned vehicle that was frequently used by several people was deliberately set on fire. A witness reported that the suspect placed an automobile tire inside of the vehicle and lit the tire by unknown means. The suspect was heard making remarks about a dispute with the perceived owner of the vehicle. SPD and Seattle Fire responded to the blaze, and it was extinguished without further incident. The suspect was no longer present and was not located by officers. The neighbors who reported the incident were fearful of retaliation from neighbors at a nearby encampment if they were to be seen speaking with the police. This is the second arson to a vehicle at this location in the past two months. Fire Marshal responded to investigate and notified SPD Arson Bomb Squad.

#2021-204137/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 08-07-2021 at 2139 hours, officers responded to an assault call where the victim was pepper sprayed. Victim stated he was flagged down by a female. The female suspect yelled bias comments directed at the victim and then proceeded to assault the victim by spraying them in the face with pepper spray. The victim fled the scene and called 911.

#2021-204224/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 08-07-2021 at 2259 hours, while officers were working the Aurora Av Shots Fired emphasis, they spotted a vehicle being driven erratically. They attempted a traffic stop and the driver of the vehicle suddenly accelerated, did a u-turn in a parking lot, and assaulted them by crashing the suspect vehicle into their patrol car head on. A help the officer was broadcast. The driver then fled on foot up an embankment through some bushes and was captured by the original officers. A firearm was recovered from the suspect. The suspect also had a felony warrant for DV assault. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Felony Assault on police officers and the felony warrant. An additional misdemeanor charge of DUI was also requested. A hazard report was completed for the suspect.

#2021-204262/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 08-07-2021 at 2347 hours, officers responded to an unknown call, in the 6100 block of SW Admiral Way. Additional information came in that a male victim was shot in the face. Officers arrived to find the victim’s vehicle had collided with two parked vehicles. The victim was located inside a nearby residence, where he had summoned assistance. The victim reported that an unknown male on a motorcycle had shot him in the face, but he could not provide further information. Seattle Fire treated the victim on scene and transported him to Harborview Medical Center, with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers attempted to locate a shooting scene, with negative results. After being examined at HMC, doctors believe the facial wound was more consistent with being stabbed (no exit wound and no projectile located). The incident was screened with Homicide. Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to the scene. Duty Captain was notified.
