#2021-216338/North Precinct/First Watch:

On 08-20-2021 at 0711 hours, officers responded to a male causing a disturbance in his apartment. The subject was throwing items into the hallway and out his window. Officers attempted to contact him and received no response. Crisis Response Team, Mental Health Professional, & Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) were called and responded to the scene. HNT attempted to call his phone and received no answered. HNT called out through the window and again received no answer. The subject was seen walking around his apartment. After receiving no answer and witnessing the subject walk around, the decision was made to leave and write a report.

#2021-216600/North Precinct/Second Watch:

On 08-20-2021 at 1253 hours, the victim met the suspect and arranged to purchase drugs from him. They went to the suspect’s apartment building. The victim waited in the lobby while the suspect went to get the drugs. After about 30 minutes the victim contacted the suspect and was told the deal was off. The victim went to try and locate the suspect. He heard the suspect in apartment on the 3rd floor. He knocked on the door and spoke to the suspect. The suspect gave him his money back. The victim started to walk away. The suspect began punching the victim in the back of the head, accusing him of disrespecting him in front of his girlfriend. The victim made it to the stairwell with the suspect continuing to punch him in the head. The victim pulled out a gun and fired one round into the ground, hoping to stop the assault. The assault continued so the victim pointed the gun down and behind him, at the suspect’s legs and fired another round. The suspect yelled out that he was hit and went back to his apartment. The victim went outside and called 911 and reported the incident. The suspect and his girlfriend quickly left the scene and drove to Edmonds to seek medical attention. The victim was interviewed by a detective. The suspect was contacted and interviewed and released at the hospital in Edmonds. Sgt. in homicide was consulted and we determined that they would handle this incident. The gun is in evidence.

#2021-216631/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 08-20-2021 at 1336 hours, a mother and her autistic 12- year-old son were walking down the street. The child was stimming with his hands. Male suspect approached on a bicycle and verbally accosted the mother and son. Suspect then mimicked the son’s stimming and made derogatory statements towards both the mother and child. Suspect then grabbed at the child. The mother and child were able to evade the suspect and run away. Officers responded to the scene, established probable cause, and arrested the suspect. Sgt responded to the scene and screened the Hate Crime arrest with an on-duty lieutenant.

#2021-216669/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:

On 08-20-2021 at 1421 hours, a victim called 911 to report an armed robbery at her business, located in the 8800 block 35 Ave SW. The victim was working behind the checkout counter when she observed a male adult standing at a display case, located at the open end of the counter. When all the customers had left the store, the suspect produced a handgun, pointed it at the clerk and approached her. The suspect made threats to shoot the victim and demanded cash from the safe and register. Approximately $600 in currency was taken, along with the victim’s cell phone. The suspect told the clerk he would leave the cell phone outside, which a customer later located and returned. Officer responded and conducted an area check with negative results. SW Patrol processed the scene. Evidence was located. Media was on scene.

#2021-217077/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 08-20-2021 at 2115 hours, a nude suspect approached community members, brandished a knife, made threats, and then ran away from the 200 Block of Broadway E. The suspect continued north bound on Broadway E and made additional threats to community members in the 900 block of Broadway E. Officers contacted her in the 2300 block of Broadway E. after she brandished and threatened several other community members. While affecting the arrest for the brandishing, the suspect struck an officer in the face. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. While being booked into King County Jail the suspect assaulted two jail officers.
