Police Arrest South Seattle Robbery Suspect, Seize Gun

Police on Monday arrested an armed robbery suspect after a parking enforcement officer spotted the vehicle used in the crime.

On August 13th, two women shoplifted from a gas station convenience store in the 7200 block of East Marginal Way South. After stealing several items, the women got into a silver Mercedes. When the store clerk followed them out to the car, the male driver pointed a gun at the clerk before driving away with the women.

Robbery detectives identified the driver and the vehicle and asked officers to be on the lookout for both.

Just after noon on Monday, a parking enforcement officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle in the 7900 block of Rainier Avenue South. Officers responded and took the 53-year-old suspect into custody. Police recovered a handgun from the driver’s side floorboard of the car.

Police booked the man into the King County Jail for Robbery in the First Degree.  Detectives continue to investigate.
