#2021-231109/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 09-04-2021 at 0142 hours, several people called 911 reporting a suspect in the parking lot of Sarajevo holding a rifle and pointing it at security. Many panicked patrons were running for cover and hiding behind cars. South Taskforce, CRG, West Pct, JET1, and GRVU quickly arrived at the scene. The suspect was upset after he was removed from the club, so he walked to his vehicle, pulled out a rifle, and pointed it at security. At one point, he was holding a victim hostage but quickly released that person when he saw patrol vehicles arriving. The suspect ran from the scene but was apprehended by officers. Officers recovered the rifle, which turned out to be an airsoft rifle (painted as a real rifle). Type I Use of Force was done. The suspect was booked into Jail.
#2021-231136/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 09-04-2021 at 0309 hours, officers responded to several calls of multiple shots fired. Officers discovered several scenes in the parking lot and recovered evidence of a shooting. At this time no victims were located. A witness was located that was driving by and reported that two people were shooting at each other. Damage was located to one building. Gun Violence Reduction Unit was notified.
#2021-231506/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 09-04-2021 at 1302 hours, Walgreen’s Security at 23 Av and S Jackson requested that a male sleeping on their property move along. As Security walked away from the male a citizen witness watched the male pull out a gun and point it at Walgreen’s Security as their backs were turned. The witness reported this incident to 911 as the suspect packed up and left Walgreen’s property. Responding SPD officers located the suspect approximately 5 blocks away and detained him. The suspect had outstanding warrants for Felony Escape and Burglary. Officers developed probable cause for Felony Harassment of Walgreen’s Security and placed the subject under arrest. Officers recovered a loaded 9 MM handgun from the suspect along with an illegal switchblade knife. This suspect is a convicted Felon and officers discovered that the handgun he was in possession of had been stolen in a Car Prowl last night in the West Precinct. Officers made contact with the victim of this Car Prowl to let her know that they had recovered some of her stolen property. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Felony Harassment, Investigation of Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Investigation of Possession of Stolen Property and for both of the suspect’s outstanding Felony warrants.
#2021-231981/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 09-04-2021 at 2125 hours, a black mustang was northbound on Lake City Way NE at a high rate of speed. The driver of the mustang was attempting to beat the yellow traffic signal at Erickson PL NE when a dark color SUV made a right northbound turn onto Lake City Way NE from Erickson PL NE. The driver of the mustang went into the SB left turn lane sideswiping the first two vehicles waiting for the left turn signal to change. The mustang then struck the 3rd and 4th vehicles waiting at the left turn signal causing massive damage to the 3rd vehicle. A 5th vehicle waiting to make the left turn sustained minor damage. An occupant in the 4th vehicle suffered a fractured arm. Prior to impact with the vehicles, it appeared as if the driver of the mustang attempted to slow as he left approximately 75 feet of tire marks. The driver of the mustang was arrested and booked for vehicular assault after a blood draw was completed.
