On 10-04-2021 at 2004 hours, officers responded to the area of Rainier Beach High School to investigate a report of an assault by pepper spray. The juvenile victim in the matter was very agitated over the incident and as a result, the introduction of officers (strangers) and the obvious break in his routine, made it very challenging for officers to obtain details regarding the incident. Officers on scene reduced their immediate/visible presence to the victim down to 1 officer. The approach seemed to assist in calming the victim and preventing the victim from shutting down completely. The victim stated they were out jogging, something they routinely do, when they were approached by 2 unknown male suspects and 1 unknown female suspect. One of them uttered a bias slur, then sprayed the victim’s face with pepper spray. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. Unfortunately, the victim was unable to provide any descriptions for the suspects other than their gender.
