Police Arrest Two, Recover Stolen Car and Gun

Officers seized narcotics and a stolen gun from two suspects in a stolen car late Sunday afternoon in Northgate.

At about 5:30 p.m., officers spotted two men in a stolen car in the parking lot of a Northgate grocery store. As officers approached the car, they saw that the driver appeared to have a bag of methamphetamine on his lap, and the front passenger quickly stashed something under his seat when he noticed officers approaching. Before continuing their investigation, police instructed both men to exit the vehicle and detained both of them.

When the car was reported stolen, the owner gave law enforcement permission to search the car if it was recovered. Officers recovered more than 30 grams of methamphetamine and a scale from the area around the driver’s seat, and under the passenger’s seat they found a stolen handgun. Police also found a small amount of heroin and a baggie of small pills believed to be fentanyl in the car.

Officers arrested both men and booked the 30-year-old driver into King County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful possession of narcotics with intent to sell. The 30-year-old passenger is a convicted felon and therefore prohibited from having a gun, so officers booked him into King County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm as well as possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a stolen vehicle.
