#2021-274740/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 10-17-2021 at 0230 hours, officers responded to the Rainier Vista neighborhood to investigate a shot heard incident (13 shots heard). Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting and damage to nearby houses. No victims and no suspects located. Officers processed the scene. The report will forward to Gun Violence Reduction Unit.
#2021-274837/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 10-17-2021 at 0555 hours, officers responded to an arson inside an apartment building. The victim was alerted to a fire outside the entry door to his apartment when his neighbor put the fire out. In addition to starting the fire, the suspect also defecated outside the victim’s apartment door and inside the elevator. There were no witnesses to the arson, and only very minor property damage occurred. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. Seattle Fire Marshal screened the incident with SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad. Incident screened.
#2021-274851/East Precinct/First Watch:
On 10-17-2021 at 0618 hours, officers responded to an alarm at a construction site. Upon arrival officers located a suspect exiting the grounds with a large spool of copper wire. Officers advised the suspect he was under arrest and attempted to place him into custody. The suspect became combative and fought with officers and at one point attempted to place an officer in a headlock and tried to take their firearm. Officers used type 2 Use of Force and were able to take the suspect into custody. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Assault 2 and Burglary. One officer was taken to a local hospital where he received stiches for an injury to his face. Force Investigation Team notified.
#2021-275348/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 10-17-2021 at 1803 hours in the 6700 block of M L King Way S three suspects armed with handguns entered a beauty salon occupied by approx. 12 employees/customers. The suspects were dressed in dark clothing and were wearing masks from the movie “Scream”. A fourth suspect waited outside. The suspects went around the room taking all the victims’ purses and then they made the owner take them into the employees’ quarters where they stole all the employees’ purses, etc. A silver van with New Mexico plates was seen fleeing S/B from the area, however, the victims could not positively link that van with the suspects. An area check following this crime yielded negative results. Robbery Unit notified.
#2021-275352/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 10-17-2021 at 1805 hours, the suspect in this matter generated 7 separate calls today starting at about 1229 hours and finishing with this incident during 3rd watch. The suspect managed to violate a DV court order several times, an anti-harassment order several times, rise to felony harassment, and flee the scene in a known SPD stolen vehicle. The suspect was later involved in a collision with the stolen vehicle where he ditched the vehicle and fled the scene of the hit and run, on foot. He was found and placed in custody to be later booked into the King County Jail.
#2021-275588/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 10-17-2021 at 2334 hours, officers responded to a fire at a transient camp. A vehicle and several piles of miscellaneous debris were burned, and one person was transported to Harborview Medical Center with burns to their face and arm. Officers processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. Seattle Fire Marshal responded to the scene and notified SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad of the incident.
